Q. Can Half-Arabians and Anglo-Arabians compete in the California Futurity?

A. The California Futurity is for Purebred Arabians Only.
 
Q. When and where is the show hosting the California Futurity classes?

A. The California Futurity classes are held during the annual show held by the Arabian Horse Association of the San Fernando Valley (AHASFV) at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, California.
 
Q. How can I request a Premium for the AHASFV Show hosting The California Futurity?

A. If you click on the LINKS button, you can go to the Club site by clicking on AHASFV.  On their site, click AHASFV Shows and scroll down to "To Request A Premium List".  You can also print a Class Schedule and Entry Form for the show from that site.  Or you can go directly to the site at AHASFV.org.
Q. When is the nomination deadline for the California Futurity?

A. The Closing date for Nominations of unborn foals is October 31 of the year in which the foal was conceived. Late fees of $50 per foal will be accepted for foals nominated between November 1 and December 31 of the year the unborn foal is conceived. Nominations postmarked after December 31 of the year of conception will not be accepted.
 
Q. When is the renomination deadline for the California Futurity?

A. Renomination statements will be mailed to owners of participating horses on record with The California Futurity in September of each year. Renominations should be postmarked by October 31 to avoid paying late fees. Renominations postmarked between November 1 and December 31 are subject to a $50 late fee per horse renominated. Renominations postmarked between January 1 and March 31 are subject to a $100 deferred renomination fee per horse renominated.
 
Q. How do I complete a transfer of ownership after purchasing a foal currently participating in the California Futurity?

A. If you received an original California Futurity Certificate from the previous owner, complete the information requested on the back of the Certificate and return the Certificate with $15 to The California Futurity.  You will receive a new Certificate in your name.  If you did not receive an original Certificate, click here to go to the FORMS page.  Complete and mail that Transfer of Ownership form to The California Futurity to receive your new Certificate..
 
Q. My foal has already been born and is not presently a participant in the California Futurity. May I nominate the foal now?

A. No. Foals cannot be nominated after December 31 of the year they are conceived.
 
Q. Can geldings compete in the California Futurity?

A. Yes, as long as they were castrated by December 31st of the year prior to showing, and proof of castration is submitted to the California Futurity.
 
Q. I live in California, but I sent my mare out of state to be bred. Will the resulting foal be eligible for this program?

A. All purebred Arabian foals bred by residents of California are eligible for the California Futurity.
 
Q. My mare was inseminated in California with semen that was shipped from another state. Is the resulting foal eligible?

A. As long as the mare was either bred or inseminated in California, the foal will be eligible.
 
Q. I do not live in California, but my mare was inseminated with semen that was collected from a stallion in California. Will this foal be eligible for the California Futurity?

A. Yes. As long as the stallion was collected in California, the foal will be eligible for this program.
 
Q. I live in California but I am leasing a mare from an out of state resident and the mare was bred by a stallion in that state. Will my foal be eligible for the California Futurity?

A. Yes, a mare leased by a California resident qualifies the foal to be a participant in the futurity, if you are the designated breeder on the foal's registration papers.
 
Q. I live in California and my foal will be the result of an embryo transfer from a mare in another state who was bred by an out-of-state stallion. Is that foal going to be eligible for participation in the futurity?

A. Yes because you are a California resident, the foal qualifies to be a participant in the futurity, if you are the designated breeder on the foal's registration papers.
